We at the WCF would like to express our condolences to her survivors, in particular to her children and her husband, whose lives will never be the same because of this wrong and hateful act. The assassination of
Marwa al-Scherbiny and the resulting press reports are sound proof that we need to reestablish a healthy, cultural dialogue among the common populace, where people learn to understand each other and live in harmony. As a common human race, we cannot afford to forget that faith and family planning are a universal phenomenon, regardless of race, culture or creed.
The
2ND WORLD CULTURE FORUM in Octorber offers the perfect platform for this dialogue. Among other topics, three roundtable discussions will be held, dealing specifically with religious issues and how we might solve them.
Doctor Petra Bahr, official cultural representative of the Evangelical Church of Germany, has the following to say about her part in the discussions:
